AES Technology is an innovative company that develops, produces, and supports high-quality opto-electronic solutions for the defense market.
We focus on safety, reliability, and technological leadership.
Our innovative products combine state-of-the-art sensors, optics, and electronics – making a crucial contribution to our customers' technological superiority.
Your Tasks
- Analysis, derivation and management of customer and system requirements, including traceability down to subsystem level (hardware, FPGA, software, optics, mechanics) and to verification.
- Definition of the system architecture of electro-optical camera, display and video systems.
- Technology and component trade-offs (e.g. image sensors, optics, interfaces, processing platforms) and participation in system and component selection together with the development teams and suppliers.
- Creation and maintenance of system documentation such as system and subsystem design descriptions, interface control documents (ICD), operation and user manuals.
- First initial operation of new camera systems and prototypes in the laboratory, and integration of hardware, FPGA and software into a working system.
- Characterisation and testing of camera systems: focusing and optical alignment, measurement of camera and image quality parameters, interface and protocol tests.
- Preparation and execution of verification and acceptance tests (test plans, test procedures, test reports) and support of environmental qualification campaigns.
- Analysis of system level issues and coordination of their resolution across all disciplines.
- Technical contact for customers and suppliers, participation in design reviews and support of project management in planning and technical risk assessment
Your Profile
- Successfully completed studies in electrical engineering, physics, optics / photonics, mechatronics, systems engineering or comparable qualification.
- Professional experience as systems engineer or in the development and testing of electro-optical or embedded systems.
- Experience in requirements engineering and requirements management tools (e.g. Jama, DOORS).
- Good understanding of camera technology: image sensors (visible, SWIR, MWIR / LWIR), optics, image processing chain and video interfaces.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment and optical test setups (e.g. collimators, test targets, oscilloscopes).
- Experience in writing structured technical documentation.
- Knowledge of systems engineering processes and defence / aerospace standards (e.g. ISO/IEC 15288, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461) is highly appreciated.
- Experience with script languages (Python, ...) for test automation and data evaluation is advantageous.
- Experience with Jira / Confluence and agile working methods is an advantage.
- Fluid spoken / written German and English.
- Interest in the complete system rather than a single discipline, and enjoyment of discussing and challenging technical solutions within the team.
- Goal-oriented, structured and transparent way of working.
- High level of commitment, initiative and willingness to learn.
- Willingness to travel occasionally (customers, suppliers, test campaigns).
